Received 14 December.
Welcome to our new Leominster Safer Neighbourhood team fortnightly news article. We are going to try and keep them as brief as possible so we can keep our administration times down so they will literally be a brief overview of the previous two weeks.
SNT Article for week ending 13th December 2020
A quick introduction to our team for those of you that may not know all members of our Safer Neighbourhood team and for you to note we will be having a change of police officer in the New Year .
Pc O’Donovan is being seconded to a vulnerability team within our Harm Hub for a temporary 9 month (ish) project, so he will be leaving our team for a short while. He will be replaced by Pc Beswick who is currently a patrol officer in Leominster so he knows the area well. We will keep you posted when the changes take place and with new contact details.

Covid updates, we have designated officers who are working in partnership with officers from Herefordshire Council trading standards to ensure that businesses are complying with the tier 2 restrictions that we are under. This means that they are not only following up on complaints received but are also carrying out proactive patrols to licensed premises and the like, to ensure businesses are doing their bit to keep people safe.
There was a lot of social media coverage for an incident that ended up with an abandoned car on South Street. For us this was a fantastic result and demonstrated all the different departments within the police working together. The incident involved patrol, roads policing, SNT and also the dog unit, ending with the driver being apprehended!
As always seems to be the case this time of year, we have seen an increase in not only road traffic collisions but also in the number of people arrested for drink/drug driving, we have had three in the last week for Leominster town alone. We have also seen a male arrested for drunk and disorderly behaviour from one of the pubs.
We are still seeing work vans being targeted for tool thefts. This is worth noting over the festive period when people are away from their work and vans will be left unattended for a few days.
There are lots of scams circulating and it is worth checking out Action fraud Website : www.actionfraud.police.uk they list new scam alerts and also have an A-Z list of scams if you have a few minutes spare to go through them!
Rights that is it for now, but don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any queries
Kind regards
